Lots of very loud planes overhead. Some others on the trails, but not crowded. Overall, a nicer option than running the streets! This is Crater Lake's equivalent of a rim to rim hike, taking hikers from the park road to the lake.
It's a moderate hike on the way down -- some of the steep declines have scree on the trail. The way back up is strenuous; the climb is steep even with switchbacks and there's one section of the hill that is long enough to cause one to give up all hope.
